CALGARY — Four young women have stepped up to foster a hub where local artists can showcase their raw talent in front of a multicultural audience. Emmanuel Simon, a local musician and poet, has performed at RAW Voices a few times. He says the reason he was drawn to it was because of the diversity of the performers and the audience members. On the stage, performers do everything from crack jokes about failed relationships to sing original songs or delve into heavier topics through spoken word. They curate the acts and fashion a show where comedy, spoken word and music are woven together.
