Police said the fire started at an old wooden house in Moo 1 village in Tambon Don Hua Lor in Muang district at 5pm. Two fire engines took about half an hour to put out the blaze after it raged through the house, including several cages with dogs in them. Firefighters found more than 10 charred dog carcasses and several other dogs who were burned and severely injured. Duangporn Wassanasathien, 32, said her brother, Chatchai Wassanasathien, 44, used the old house as a dog farm. She said no one stayed at the house but her brother turned lights on to warm the dogs.
