Cagayan vice mayor shot deadTUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: Vice Ma­yor Aaron Sampaga of Pamplona town was gunned down by unidentified men who sneaked into his friend’s house in Barangay Masi on Friday night. His younger sister – Arnie Sampaga – won as mayor against outgoing Vice Mayor Edwin Ifurung (UNA) and independent candidate Melvin Vargas. Sampaga, who ran under the Liberal Party (LP) in May, completed three terms as mayor of Pamplona. In 2014, Ifurung charged the slain mayor for the murder of his brother Edmund, a village councilman. Police recovered six empty shells of M16 rifle and two empty shells of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.
