Cabinet to appoint new deputy garda commissioner and make free HRT treatment available from January

There are two deputy commissioner roles in An Garda ­Síochána, both of whom report to ­Garda Commissioner Drew Harris. The new deputy commissioner will be responsible for policing operations and national security. It is intended to facilitate the free HRT coverage through an amendment to the annual Health Insurance Bill, which is expected to pass the Oireachtas in the coming weeks.
