Cabinet clears ₹1,677 crore Srinagar airport expansion


The Union Cabinet on Tuesday (February 24, 2026) approved the expansion of passenger facilities at Srinagar airport at a cost of ₹1,677 crore. The airport expansion project is spread over 73.18 acres and includes a terminal building spanning 71,500 square metres, of which 20,659 square metres comprises the existing structure. The expanded apron will accommodate 15 aircraft parking bays, including one wide-body aircraft. The project will also include the construction of a multi-level car parking facility for 1,000 cars and barracks for security personnel. Srinagar airport is a civil enclave, a facility for air travellers developed at an Indian Air Force airbase.
