The Cabinet on Monday approved the draft of Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) Bill 2018 “with a provision of fine and jail term for defying BADC notices and damaging its property. “If anyone (farmers) defies any notice issued by BADC he or she will be fined Tk10,000,” said Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam. The approval was given at the weekly cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). In line with the directives of the Cabinet following the Supreme Court order in 2010, which declared the military regimes and their orders illegal, the cabinet has framed the BADC act newly in Bangla with necessary amendments, Shafiul said. The board of directors of the BADC will be comprised of a chairman to be appointed by the government, a secretary, and five full time members.
