A 57-year-old taxicab driver has been charged after a cab was caught on video last week striking a cyclist and sending him tumbling onto the sidewalk. Toronto police said a taxi driver was northbound on Bay St. downtown near Saint Mary St. at around 5:45 p.m. on August 18. Police said at the time that witnesses called them to say the cab driver seemingly swerved to hit the courier. In the YouTube video, apparently taken by a rider in a nearby vehicle, the cyclist is seen pushing at the cab’s passenger window. He’s quickly hit by the cab and is seen tumbling off his wheels.
