SportSri Lanka weightlifter and contingent skipper Chinthana Geethal Vidanage finished at overall fifth in the Weightlifting Men's 77kg event at the Commonwealth Games 2018 today (7). Vidanage lifted 298kgs -- 132kgs in Snatch and 166kgs in Clean and Jerk -- as he lost control in attempting to lift 168kgs in his last attempt. Indian Sathish Kumar Sivalingam won the gold medal lifting 317kgs while Jack Oliver of England claimed the silver medal lifting 312kgs. Australiua's Francois Etoundi lifted 315kgs to win th ebronze medal.
