more-inThe Kancheepuram Child Welfare Committee (CWC) rescued a 14-year-old girl, who was pregnant, on Sunday. Following the complaint, the girl was rescued and produced before the CWC on Sunday. It was found that the girl belonged to a tribal community and hailed from Melmaruvathur, where her parents work as stone breakers. Officials said they have sought advice from senior medical professionals in Chengalpet Medical College if she should be allowed to continue the pregnancy. Officials further added that they will soon be filing a complaint under the POCSO Act against those who solemnised their marriage.
