That’s the character Canadian actress Cobie Smulders will play on her return to network TV in Stumptown. CTV announced Wednesday that it’s picking up the series for its fall schedule. The action drama is based on the comic book series of the same name by Greg Rucka about a Portland private detective. In the comics, Dex is bisexual, smokes, drinks, gambles too much and has a younger brother with Down syndrome. Originating network ABC describes TV Dex as an army veteran turned PI, who “solves other people’s messes with a blind eye toward her own.”Vancouver-born Smulders is best known for the nine seasons she spent as Robin on TV’s How I Met Your Mother and as Maria in various Marvel Cinematic Universe films and the TV series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
