LAHORE: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Wednesday has confirmed the arrest of Hafiz Saeed, head of the proscribed religious organisation Jamatud Dawa (JuD). Saeed was on his way to an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Gujranwala to seek bail when he was arrested by the CTD officials in the Gujranwala jurisdiction, a private media house reported citing sources. Following the arrest, Saeed has been shifted to an unknown location, the report further said, adding that media will soon be informed about details of the arrest. “The charges, he faces, are still unknown,” a JuD spokesperson told Reuters, confirming the arrest. Saeed, Muhammad Ayub Sheikh, Zafar Iqbal, Syed Luqman Ali Shah, Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki, Abdul Salam, Abdul Ghaffar and Abdul Qudoos Shahid were represented by AK Dogar during the proceedings.
