CS Munyes puts on hold mining licenses in West Pokot to allow for public participationPetroleum and Mining Cabinet Secretary John Munyes has put on hold mining licenses that have been in process for mineral rights in West Pokot County to allow public participation and consultations fully done for all leaders in the County to be engaged in the process. This comes after an uproar from elites and area leaders who have been claiming that the County government sold land in seven areas at Kiwawa, Alale, Marich, Lyoni, Chepkobhee, Tamkal and Posilo in Ortum which have minerals where mining is expected to start. The ministry of Petroleum issued a 42 days gazettement notice for locals to make any objections and some locals objected by presenting a petition to the ministry of mining. 11 hours ago
