Treasury CS John Mbadi has revoked the appointment of Seth Panyako as a member of the Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPF) Board. According to the notice, the decision was made under section 5(1)(d) of the Local Authorities Provident Fund Act, read together with section 51(1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act. The Treasury CS exercises authority over board appointments as provided for in the enabling legislation. The trade unionist was appointed to the LAPFUND board by former Treasury CS Njuguna Ndung’u in March 2023. The Local Authorities Provident Fund Board is responsible for overseeing the management of retirement benefits for employees of county governments and former local authorities.
