CRPF to form 'Bastariya battalion' to combat Maoists in Chhattisgarh : India, News


3 The battalion will be posted in Chhattisgarh for 5 years. The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved a proposal to form a 'special battalion' in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) comprising of only tribal men and women to fortify the fight against Maoists in Chhattisgarh. BASTARIYA FOR BASTARThe new battalion will be posted for five years in Chhattisgarh and will be called 'Bastariya' taken from 'Bastar' which is one of the heavily fortified districts of the state. According to a report by The Economic Times, CRPF will recruit from four worse Maoist-affected areas, including Narayanpur, Bijapur, Sukhma and Dantewada.
