The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the district is piqued by the alleged 'raid' ordered by the District Police Chief (DPC) in his own headquarters here on May 11 in connection with a complaint relating to postal ballots of police personnel. Though the CPI(M) has not officially responded to the controversial 'raid' led by the Assistant Superintendent of Police of Thalassery, DPC G. Siva Vikram appears to be in the firing line of the party if a report in the party mouthpiece Deshabhimani on May 13 is any indication. Without naming him, the report said the raid was an action tantamount to destroying the mutual trust and bond in the police force. The report said the Inspector General of Police (Kannur Range) and the State Police Chief were in the dark about the raid. The DPC has the right to send his officers to his own headquarters for verification if there is a complaint that involves officers there,’’ said the officer.
