Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) distinguished fellow Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya on Thursday said the government should allocate Tk100 crore in the next budget to create a trust fund for local NGOs. The economist and policy analyst emphasised the role of NGOs in helping the country attain the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Debapriya made the comments at a conference titled ‘NGOs’ role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals’ held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in Dhaka. Participation from both public and private sectors can smooth the way towards the sustainable development goals,” said Azad. PKSF Chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman said that including the country’s underprivileged minorities into the SDG net would be key to achieving the development goals.
