Egypt’s Health Ministry on Sunday confirmed 611 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total case numbers up to 173,813, according to ministry spokesperson Khaled Megahed. The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 9,994 nationwide, after the ministry announced 59 deaths. And 322 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising Egypt’s total number of fully-recovered cases to 134,960. The country has now reported a total of 171,390 cases, 133,331 recovered cases, and 9,804 deaths. Egypt’s second wave hit its peak on December 30, when the health ministry reported 1,411 new cases.
