CEBU, Philippines — The Philippines on Tuesday recorded nine new cases of the novel coronavirus infections in the country, bringing the total to 33. More than an hour before the press briefing, the Department of Health announced that the total number of infections in the Philippines stood at 35, after 11 additional cases were detected. BUDGET FOR COVID-19The House appropriations committee yesterday approved a P1.65-billion supplemental budget for government's response to threat of COVID-19. When sought for comment, Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano revealed that they could hold special sessions during the Lenten break of Congress, if needed, to pass the supplemental budget. The House panel's approval of the supplemental budget came after the confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country had risen to 33.
