The government has advised people to practice social distancing and told the elderly to stay at home. There was a sense of generational continuity, which was not lost on me since many of my ancestors perished in the Holocaust. The restaurants here have all set up their patios and there is a sense of jubilation about the warmer weather. Searching for answers as to why Sweden is taking such a relaxed approach, I think about how the human nervous system responds to fear and trauma. Time will tell, but for the time being, planet Sweden is going its way, and this Canadian is watching from the sidelines.
