The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported on October 31 that India has recorded a total of 12,830 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. This is one of the lowest daily tallies of COVID-19 cases recorded in India ever since the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic hit the country. With the new cases reported on Sunday, the overall tally of active COVID-19 cases in India has dropped to 1,59,272, which is the lowest in 247 days. According to the ministry, the active cases account for less than 1 percent of the total cases, which stands currently at 0.46%, the lowest since March 2020. India recently crossed the 1-billion milestone of administering COVID-19 vaccine doses across the country, and the government has administered a total of 106.14 crore vaccine doses till now.
