CONCACAF Gold Cup: Panama gets past Guyana


Panama got help from an own goal from Guyana during a 4-2 victory Saturday in Group D at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Cleveland, Ohio. Panama’s Abdiel Arroyo opened the scoring in the 16th minute, but Neil Danns scored on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute to tie the match. Panama’s Erick Davis made the second attempt at a penalty kick for a 3-1 lead. Gabriel Torres scored the final goal for Panama in the 86th minute, and Danns added his second goal of the match in stoppage time for the final margin. Panama (2-0-0, six points) will play the United States on Wednesday in Kansas City after Guyana (0-2-0, 0 points) takes on Trinidad and Tobago.
