CMO Today: Super Bowl Ads Score With Unity and Humor

Photo: European Pressphoto AgencySUPER ADS: For three quarters, it looked like the ads might be the only real entertainment on display at the Super Bowl -- before the New England Patriots launched a stunning comeback. They featured “a sexy Mr. Clean, a sloppy Terry Bradshaw, and a pot-seeking Snoop Dogg,” WSJ’s Suzanne Vranica writes. The end, which was released online at halftime, showed them encountering a border wall with a big door, CMO Today reports. Viewers also saw ads nodding to unity and diversity from brands like Coca-Cola, Google and Airbnb, reports Variety. The Patriots forced the game to overtime (and ultimately won), and broadcaster Fox was ready, having negotiated ads for that possibility, reports Adweek.
