SRINAGAR: J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday ordered the review of stone pelting cases registered against the Kashmiri youth between the year 2015 and 2017 (till date). The cases will be reviewed by a committee appointed by the chief minister, which is already looking into such cases registered between 2008 and 2014. The committee will submit its recommendations to the state government within 10 days. The review of stone-pelting cases against the Kashmiri youth was a major demand from various sections of the society. "It gives me immense satisfaction to restart the process of withdrawing FIRs against first-time offenders of stone pelting. My government had initiated the process in May 2016 but it was unfortunately stalled due to the unrest later that year. This initiative will provide them an opportunity to rebuild their lives," she said in a series of tweets on Wednesday night.
