CJP asks milk companies to stop deceiving people

Issues notices to seven tea-whitener and milk manufacturing companiesLAHORE: Expressing concern over sale of substandard milk, the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has directed the milk producing companies to stop deceiving the public and mention the actual ingredients on their products. The CJP disclosed that he himself was unaware of the difference between a ‘tea-whitener’ and milk, adding, however, that a hakeem had once advised him not to use powdered milk. Later, the bench issued notices to seven tea-whitener and milk manufacturing companies including Shakarganj foods, Haleeb and Dalda foods. It also issued notices to two steroid manufacturing companies – ICI Pharmaceutical and Ghazi Brothers. The CJP directed the manufacturing companies of powder and pasteurised milk to write on their products in bold-letters that it is not milk.
