Chief Justice Diosdado Peralta has joined his counterparts in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) over the weekend in signing the Hanoi Declaration to further strengthen unity and coordination among member countries. The Hanoi Agreement was made online during the 8th Meeting of the Council of Asean Chief Justices (CACJ) hosted by the Judiciary of Vietnam. It was the first ever online meeting of the top magistrates in the Asean. They all agreed that every Asean judiciary should consider sharing their respective crisis management experiences in response to Covid-19 on the Asean Judiciaries Portal. In his message, Peralta reaffirmed the Philippine judiciary’s commitment to advance the rule of law in the Asean region.
