The survey, which the companies claim is the largest IT leadership survey in the world with over 3,000 respondents, found that 67% of global businesses have a critical technology skills shortage. This could be because many larger companies are still using legacy IT systems and applications, and employees would rather work with the latest technologies. “The problem is many of the USPs for large global organisations are disappearing. Ellis believes that many larger companies are being held much more accountable for their mission and purpose. “Of course larger companies still have a deep appeal, but the real future winners will be the ones that combine a small company ethos and way of working, with the larger company scale and opportunity,” he adds.
