At least 70 people were killed in the massive fire Mahmud Hossain Opu/Dhaka TribuneThe DNA samples will be used to identify Chawkbazar fire victims who are still unidentifiedA team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police is working at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) to cross-match DNA samples of victims killed in the Chawkbazar fire incident. Confirming the matter to the Dhaka Tribune, district administration Additional Deputy Commissioner Shafiqul Islam said: “The CID team is here to collect DNA samples from the relatives, to perform cross-matching with Chawkbazar fire victims who are still unidentified. Also Read- Fire strikes Old Dhaka again: 67 killed in Chawkbazar inferno“After identifying these bodies, those will be handed over to their relatives,” he furthered. Shafiqul added that around 1pm, the CID took DNA sample from 13 people, and the administration is working here to provide necessary support. Chawakbazar fire incident has claimed the lives of 67.
