The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has launched an investigation into several remarks allegedly made by former Western Province Governor Azath Salley, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said today. He said several complaints have been received from various parties saying that Salley’s remarks were against the law of the country and would lead to disharmony among communities. “Accordingly, the CID decided to launch a probe into these complaints. A team of five CID officials led by an ASP will conduct investigations,” the DIG said. It was reported that Salley had allegedly said that he does not respect the law of the country but only respects the Muslim law.
