McDaniel said, “It's all been special. It's all been kind of location based. When I was painting in New York, I was painting folks in New York and letting them talk. I've been working on a body of work in Guam and every time I've been there, I've been focusing on the healers and the activists and that has been really special and close to my heart and really wonderful that people have let me listen to them and share with me and I've gotten to learn from them...And although it hasn't happened yet, it's an ongoing project, that has been really special to me.”
