The teachers have been protesting against the delay in payment of their interim market premium as well as book and research allowances. They called off the strike last week following the intervention of the National Labour Commission (NLC). The NLC ordered the parties involved in the negotiations to resolve the prolonged impasse within 14 working days, beginning today, Monday December 10. We believe in the rule of law and the word that was given by the Commission is well with us."
