He imparted the directives during a coordination meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka’s Agargaon area on Monday. Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed, elections commissioners, and representatives of law enforcement agencies—amongst others—were present at the meeting. The by-elections of Dhaka North City Corporation will be held on February 28; the elections will be held in 480 upazilas in five phases this year—starting on March 10. Election Commission Secretary Helaluddin Ahmed said, of the five phases of the upazila parishad polls, electronic voting machines (EVMs) will be used only in the 3rd, 4th and 5th phases.
