Health officials warned consumers to completely avoid romaine lettuce amid a widening E.coli outbreak linked to produce grown in Yuma, Ariz. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Friday said consumers should throw away all romaine lettuce purchased from stores including whole heads and hearts of the plant. The agency previously had advised consumers to avoid chopped romaine, salads and salad mixes that contained the lettuce.
