Installation of the new CCTV system in the main streets of Balclutha has been completed and is now undergoing a "commissioning phase" to ensure everything is running correctly. "It’s really a bit difficult unless you’ve got some sort of pattern going on," Snr Sgt Dickie said. "We’re now going through a commissioning and training phase so we can make sure the system is working as it should," he said. "That may take a wee bit longer, so in the interim we’ve had monitoring at the Balclutha station," he said. Police in Balclutha were not actively monitoring the cameras but they had the ability to go back and review footage.
