Installing CCTV cameras in central Mosgiel could cost up to $17,000. At a meeting of the Mosgiel Taieri Community Board last week, Senior Constable Karren Bye said two quotes had been received for the cost of installing the cameras in Gordon Rd to film activity near shops. The cameras would be monitored at the Dunedin Central Police Station and footage would be available for up to three months, Snr Const Bye said. Board chairwoman Sarah Nitis said the project was a collaborative effort between police, the board and the Mosgiel Business Association. The board would consider funding the project at its next meeting on July 19, when the project fund for the 2017-18 financial year became available.
