The Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI)-based inflation has decreased to 5.7% in September 2021, stated the Department of Statistics of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). The decrease has taken place in terms of headline inflation as measured by the year-on-year (YoY) change in the CCPI, which decreased to 5.7% this month from 6% in August 2021. Subsequently, food inflation (YoY) decreased to 10% in September 2021 from 11.5% in August 2021, while non-food inflation (YoY) increased to 3.8% in September 2021 from 3.5% in August 2021. When it comes to the monthly change of CCPI, it is recorded at 0.47% in September 2021, due to price increases observed in items of both food and non-food categories. The CCPI, which is measured on an annual average basis, increased to 4.5% in September 2021 from 4.3% in August 2021.
