more-inThe Madras High Court was told on Wednesday that the Chennai City Crime Branch police had closed a complaint lodged by Nadigar Sangam Charitable Trust in 2016 accusing its former office-bearers, including actor Sarath Kumar, of having misappropriated funds to the tune of ₹1.75 crore. Mr. Sarath Kumar had also filed a petition to implead himself in the transfer application. However, pointing out that nothing survived in the transfer application in view of the closure of the complaint, the judge said the trust could seek remedy by challenging the closure through filing of a protest application before the lower court concerned. However, the counsel for the trust, Krishna Ravindran, convinced the court to grant him an adjournment. Acceding to his request, the judge posted the transfer application for further hearing on March 16.
