CBI summons AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes in graft probe

Photo: MintNew Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday said it has summoned Malaysia-based AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes on 6 June over allegations that the airline broke rules while obtaining a licence in the country. The CBI has also summoned Rajender Dubey, the director of HNR Trading, which has been named in the first information report (FIR) filed by the agency, for alleged criminal conspiracy. In the FIR filed by the agency on Monday, some “unknown public servants” of the civil aviation ministry and the then Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), along with R. Venkataramanan, director, AirAsia India, and T. Kanagalingam alias Bo Lingam, Deputy CEO, AirAsia Group have been named. AirAsia did not immediately respond to emails seeking a comment.
