The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the Narsingh Yadav doping case. Narsingh and the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) had alleged foul play after two of his samples showed traces of banned anabolic steroid methandienone. Earlier, the CBI took over the case from Haryana Police, which had filed an FIR on July 27. The case has been registered under Sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy, 328 (poisoning) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. On the basis of the complaint by Narsingh, Haryana Police had named a junior wrestler of Dariyapur Kalan in its FIR as an accused in the conspiracy, but the agency clarified it would draw conclusions in the case only after completing its probe.
