CBI eases up on conductor

New Delhi: The CBI on Thursday did not oppose school bus conductor Ashok Kumar's bail plea in the Pradyuman Thakur murder case, saying it had found no "incriminating evidence" against the man Gurgaon police arrested on the charge of killing the Class II boy. "So far no incriminating evidence has been found in the CBI investigation in connection with the involvement of Ashok Kumar in the murder of Pradyuman at Ryan International School. In case any evidence about the involvement of Kumar comes forth during the ongoing investigation, appropriate action will be taken," the CBI said in its petition to the Gurgaon court. CBI sources said they suspect the police botched up the probe under "political pressure" and implicated the conductor. Pradyuman's father Varun Thakur had on Wednesday alleged that a Haryana minister had tried to dissuade him from seeking a CBI probe into his son's murder.
