CBI clean chit for Tej in Rajdev murder

Our Legal CorrespondentNew Delhi: The CBI has informed the Supreme Court it has no evidence to prove the alleged involvement of Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad's son Tej Pratap Yadav in the May 2016 murder of journalist Rajdev Ranjan. "So far, no role of Tej Pratap Yadav and (the) superintendent of police (SP), Siwan, has surfaced during the investigation by the CBI in this case," the agency said in an affidavit on Thursday. Rajdev was shot dead by a gunman at the alleged instance of Mohammad Shahabuddin for adverse reporting against the jailed don and RJD leader. The CBI, however, said the photograph was of February 12, 2016, which was about three months before the journalist was murdered. Another son, who was witness to his brothers' killings, was shot dead days before he was to depose in the case.
