The CBI has arrested a Chandigarh-based chartered accountant (CA) for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in exchange of submitting a favourable report pertaining to the stock audit on Tuesday. “Accused Aggarwal demanded Rs 1.50 lakh bribe from Sharma. A trap was laid and Aggarwal was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe near Mohali,” a CBI officer said. It was further alleged that the accused demanded bribe of Rs 1.50 lakh in lieu of giving favourable stock audit report to the complainant’s firm. The bribe was allegedly negotiated and the accused agreed to accept Rs 50,000 in cash and asked the complainant to deposit the remaining Rs 1 lakh in his bank account.
