Central Board of Film Certification chief Pahlaj Nihalani has been sacked from his position. Ad man Prasoon Joshi will take over as the new chairperson of the censor board. Prasoon Joshi is a National Award-winning lyricist, and has worked on films such as Taare Zameen Par, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Neerja, among other films. Pahlaj Nihalani took over as the chairperson of the CBFC from Leela Samson on January 19, 2015. Ever since Pahlaj Nihalani was appointed the chief of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), filmmakers and audiences were exasperated by his "sanskaari" impositions on films.
