CBCP Secretary General Father Marvin Mejia issued the warning after Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo informed them of the scam which already victimized some of his friends. “Beware of a scam going on, targeting some bishops and their contacts: scammers asking donations for some bogus projects in the dioceses by fraudulently using the name of some bishops or his diocese,” he said in a Notice. “This unknown person is asking for donations for a gift (a crosier or pastoral staff) that will be given as ‘pabaon’ for the cardinal,” Malicdem said.
