CBC separates from Nahar, citing differences in policies

Future Media & Telecommunications Group, which owns CBC TV network and the Arab News Agency (ANA), announced its split from al-Nahar TV network after an only one-year merger between the two major satellite TV networks in Egypt. A statement for Future Group cited differences in visions and channel management policies, but didn’t elaborate. "We are now announcing a definitive and complete separation between Future Group, owner of CBC channels and its companies, and the group owning al-Nahar channels and its subsidiaries," the statement said. The owners of the two satellite channels al-Nahar and CBC declared a full partnership in May 2016 and merged under the auspice of one holding company. CBC has expanded to CBC Sofra, a channel dedicated to cooking shows, CBC Drama, which broadcasts soap operas and TV shows, and CBC Extra that features additional talk shows and entertainment.
