Reports state the ruling comes amid heightened scrutiny of the match, in which Eto’o was seen gesturing angrily toward Moroccan FA chief Fouzi Lekjaa while CAF president Patrice Motsepe watched from nearby. In a statement, CAF said: "The CAF Disciplinary Board charged Fédération Camerounaise de Football (FECAFOOT) President Mr Samuel Eto’o Fils with misconduct following the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 fixture between Morocco and Cameroon in Rabat, on 09 January 2026. The CAF Disciplinary Board imposed a stadium ban on Mr Samuel Eto’o Fils for the next four (4) official CAF matches played in the context of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025.
