CAAP now on heightened alert for expected surge in air passenger volume 0 SHARES Share it! Share TweetBy Ariel FernandezThe Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) is now on heightened alert in anticipation of the expected surge in the volume of air passengers during the Yuletide season. Under the directives of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Pasko 2019,” which is running from December 16, 2019 to January 5, 2020, added security measures and maximum deployment of service and security personnel are now being undertaken in CAAP-operated airports to ensure safe, reliable, and convenient airport operations as Filipinos and tourists travel for the holiday season. In line with this, all 12 area centers handling the 40 CAAP-managed commercial airports nationwide are also implementing a “no leave and day-off” policy during the period of heightened security. Concerned government agencies operating at the airports, including the Office of Transportation Security (OTS) and the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEGROUP), will also deploy personnel at areas of concern to ensure smooth passenger flow.
