Bylaw enforcement officers join fight against Toronto's pot retailers

Bylaw enforcement officers are warning landlords that the city will shutter their buildings if they rent their premises to marijuana retailers, city spokesperson Tammy Robinson said Friday. Many of the city's storefront marijuana retailers are alive and kicking six months after Project Claudia raids. Toronto police display some of the marijuana seized as part of Project Claudia in May. "Landlords are receiving letters from city bylaw officers ... that indicate their property could be at risk of forfeiture" if they continue to rent to pot retailers, Stanyon said. An investigation by CBC Toronto's Metro Morning found that 31 of the businesses closed by Project Claudia re-opened, although some have since shut down.
