GEORGE TOWN: A businessman is crying foul over the unavailability of new bank notes during the upcoming Deepavali celebrations. He said he had gone to three local banks in George Town, and was told that no new set of money was available for him. When contacted, a branch manager of a local bank in George Town admitted that there was a limited supply of new notes this year. He said during every festive season, each branch would be allocated a certain amount of new notes, depending on the demand. He called on customers to go to their nearest bank early to change new notes and avoid last-minute visits, especially during the festive season.
