Businesses object to new parking restrictions at Christchurch shopping area

Parking restrictions will be introduced outside the shops on Kendal Ave. Photo: Geoff Sloan Parking restrictions are set to be implemented outside a block of popular shops in Christchurch. Following a Fendalton-Waimairi-Harewood Community Board meeting last week, it resolved to create three 15-minute parking spaces, nine 60-minute parking spaces, four 120-minute parking spaces, and a mobility park in the currently unrestricted parking area. David Soh, who did not state which business he was affiliated with, did not want a mobility park installed. Slightly altering the plan would allow another car park to fit in the area while retaining the planned mobility park, the submission said. The board also requested Christchurch City Council resurface the parking area at the same time as the changes are made.
