Celebrate Laconia held its first event last August when the Laconia Passenger Station turned 125. The first Laconia VIBE event is in downtown Laconia on Friday from 3 to 6 p.m. The event will be staged like an open house – downtown businesses will offer discounts, special deals and refreshments, with their doors open for guests to explore and interact with business leaders. Guilmett said he doesn’t have confirmation on how many downtown businesses will be engaged in the open house, but at least 15 establishments have already committed to participating. He said VIBE has opened up the event to all service businesses in the downtown – not just retailers.
